“The closest thing to flying a fighter jet for real… ”
– DRAGON 1-3 | Raptor

My best memory of flying in DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) so far is one from from not that long ago. I was in game with a squad-mate and we were out working the multirole magic that is the F-16C Falcon. While in the midst of enjoying our flight on our custom server, we’d been called to change our role to CAP (Combat Air Patrol) by a friendly multi-crewed F-14B Tomcat. Off we went and soon to be told we’d found ourselves in a bit of a pickle as saw 5 bogeys grow to a total of 9!
With 8 missiles between us Falcons and a phoenix on the Tomcat we knew we were in for a tough fight, especially with 4 of those 9 bogeys being MiG-25s! Life itself felt as if it though hung in the balance and time began to slow till it came together in a fast sweeping action as the sky began to fill with trails of white and streaks of smoke. Kills were scored and experience gained, though sadly I was not a victor. As soon as it began it seemed to end with my squad-mate gunning down the last intruder and the Tomcat climbing to space. Though it ended poorly for me, it was a hell of a good fight and it’s the moments like those that keep you wanting more, that make you happy, and provide for me a real sense of satisfaction.
